The government has been urged to reduce VAT on energy saving products and measures installed as part of the Green Deal scheme.

A group of 26 different organisations has called on the government to reduce VAT to 5% from the current 20% rate on energy efficiency measures installed in businesses and homes under the new scheme.

The scheme is one of the measures brought in by the government to ensure the UK meets targets that have been set to reduce carbon emissions by 80 percent on the 1990 level by 2050.
